Including gallery walls and rattan baskets…
Instagram’s most popular home accessory trends for 2020 has been revealed in a new study – and gallery walls, hoop art and French antiques top the list.
Gallery walls — a curated display of photographs, posters or prints often placed in a hallway, along a staircase, or in the living room — took the top spot. Hoop art, French antiques and, unsurprisingly, plants, took the second, third and fourth spots respectively.
In research commissioned by My Job Quote, other trends to make the top 10, include farmhouse furniture, wall tapestry and wicker furniture. Their research found that there have been 13,000 Google searches for home accessories in the past month, with many people interestingly turning to TikTok for decor inspiration.
Elsewhere, there’s been a resurgence in natural fabrics in the home. ‘Rattan has made yet another comeback, with over 51,773 posts on Instagram using the hashtag ‘#rattanbaskets’. However, it wasn’t the only natural material that is trending in 2020, with ‘wickerfurniture’ raking in 43,907 instagram posts,’ explain the research team.
‘Both materials have been around since the 70s, proving popular then and now. With sustainability and ethically sourced goods at the forefront of our minds, it’s no surprise people are bringing nature into their home décor and accessories.’
