Furniture makers are devising new ways to be thoughtful about the materials they’re using to craft their next creations. From melting down plastic prototypes made in the studio to using alternatives such as corn starch or cellulose, or just taking the scraps leftover from other pieces and giving them purpose, efforts toward sustainability seem to have boosted creativity in both the manufacturing of furnishings as well as their conception.  
Some designers, such as Piet Hein Eek, have been doing this for decades, others are new to the game. And we love that even the biggest names in home design, such as French house Ligne Roset, are getting into the spirit and rethinking what’s possible.
